Beginners, no experience
In this video lesson you will learn the first basics steps of tango.
Firstly, we teach you how to do the cuadrado. Secondly, you’ll learn a more complex movement, which is called the ocho cortado.
Beginners with some experience
What will you be learning during these classes?
At first, we’ll instruct how to do the cuadrado. That is to say, we modified this basic step, so you can can keep on repeating the step in the space of your living room. As can be seen, we have added two back steps instead of one.
After that, we explain how to do the ocho cortado and add a pivot of the follower.
First year's level
Exercise 1: extended cuadrado.
Exercise 2: cunita followed by media luna and cross by the leader.
Excercise 3: this is the inverted version of excercise 2.
In other words, first you’ll do a media luna which is than followed by a cunita.
Exercise 1: ocho backward with simple exit.
Exercise 2: backward ocho, followed by a forward ocho of the leader and a giro to the right.
Exercise 3: we add a parada and adorno.
Exercise 1: ocho backward with a simple way out.
Exercise 2: backward ocho, followed by a giro to the left and with a cross step of the lady.
Exercise 3: we add a parada and a forward ocho for the follower.
Exercise 1: giro to the right with a simple exit.
Exercise 2: extended giro to the right by adding a sacada.
Exercise 3: now we extend even more by changing the weight of the leader during his sacada and by adding another giro to the right.
Exercise 1: Cross step (salida cruzada) with sacada in side step of follower
Exercise 2: We add ocho atras for the follower & backward boleo

Second year's level
Learn how to improvise:
“possible movements after the right forward step of the leader”.
Exercise 1: cuadrado with change of direction in the forward step.
Exercise 2: change of weight, followed by a forward ocho of the lady.
Exercise 3: media luna with a back cruzado of the leader, followed by a rebound.
Exercise 1: rebound step, followed by a lapiz of the leader.
Exercise 2: we add a cunita followed by a sandwich (also called mordida).
Exercise 1: salida cruzada in crossed system with a change of direction and an adorno of the lady.
Exercise 2: after the cross of the lady we add a forward boleo with a simple way out.
Exercise 3: instead of the exit, like in exercise 2, we add a parada after the boleo of the lady.
Exercise 1: salida cruzada in crossed system followed by forward sacada of the leader.
Exercise 2: after the sacada we extend the movement with a giro of the follower.
Exercise 3: now we add a lapiz for the leader.
Exercise 1: Cross step with rebound and back cross of follower
Exercise 2: Addition of media luna with back cross of leader
Intermediate & advanced level
Exercise 1: we review the ocho cortado with forward pivot of the lady.
Exercise 2: change of weight for the leader during the ocho cortado, then followed by americana and ocho backward of the follower.
Exercise 3: after the americana we add a lapiz for the leader and a giro to the left for the lady. Lastly, the lady adds an adorno during the forward ocho.
Exercise 1: media luna with left sacada of the leader.
Exercise 2: this is exercise 1, but we add a mordida.
Exercise 3: we now replace the mordida with a lapiz for the leader and a giro to the right for the follower. The lady adds an adorno after the ocho adelante.
Exercise 1: high boleo atras of the lady with simple exit.
Exercise 2: we add a backward sacada of the leader.
Exercise 3: we extend the movement with a lapiz and giro to the left.
Exercise 1: low boleo atras of the lady with simple exit.
Exercise 2: we add a forward sacada of the leader and a giro of the lady.
Exercise 3: we extend the movement with another sacada and back boleo.
Exercise 1: backward ocho of the lady followed by forward ocho of the leader
Exercise 2: back cross of leader with forward boleo by the follower
